Furne One

Last friday night I was honored to be invited by Runway Magazine to attend the Furne One fashion show at Style Fashion Week. I invited one of my best friends and roommate JB to attend with me. This is one of my favorite shows in LA fashion week. Just last spring my roommate and I volunteered last minute at the Furne One Spring show because they needed some extra hands. This made it even more special that I would be attending the show to watch. To make things even MORE awesome Raina Hein (America's Next Top Model Cycle 14) was the finale dress for the second time for Furne One. If you know me... you probably know I worked on a photoshoot with Raina, other Top Models, Kristin Cipponeri , and a few of my roommates on a spec shoot when I moved to LA a few years ago. It is in moments like this when I feel like I am starting to come full circle. With that said Furne One is amazing. Furne One designs have been seen on the red carpet on celebrities like Lady Gaga. Check out some photos from the show below!

Such a NARSissist

François Nars and I
Working for a large company has its perks... But let me tell you nothing was as sweet as this "perk". On Saturday I got the honor of meeting François Nars, the found of NARS Cosmetics. He was having a personal appearance at the new flagship Melrose Ave. location. I was able to meet Mr. Nars one on one. I was given his book "X-Ray" in which he then signed and personalized for me. I was also fortunate enough to meet the Director of PR NARS New York, and the Media Manager of NARS Cosmetics.

The Melrose location is so beautiful. The whole store has white walls, and white counter tops. So elegant! If you find yourself on Melrose you should definitely stop in. The whole store is featuring NARS new Andy Warhol cosmetic line.

The Standard Friday

Living in Los Angeles you find yourself at the most random places at the most random times. Sometimes it is hard to believe I live in such an adventurous city. Last Friday night ( did you start sining "Last Friday Night" by Katy Perry?) I went out to a bar with my cousin Victoria, and roommate JB. Of course around midnight we get hungry... JUST as our favorite Mexican food restaurant is closing down the kitchen for the night. The kind doorman then tells us the hotel across the street has great nachos. Without hesitation we walked across the street, asked for the way to the patio, and what do you know.. we are on the roof top pool of The Standard Hotel. It didn't click to me that of course this movie has been in movies/ TV shows until I thought back to the lobby that we stormed through to get the nachos.

Like I said before... you never know where the night will take you when living in Los Angeles. We noticed they had tents set up around the pool. We asked to lay in them while we devour our nachos. Inside the tents were little lights that projected star shapes, and moons on the tent walls.

This is one of those moments I know I will remember for a long time. I was laying in a tent with my cousin, and one of my best friends eating nachos and drinking a Corona. It took me back to when I was younger and my cousin and I would go camping with our family and sleep in a tent. How it was forbidden to eat food in the tent. To prevent attracting bears of course... I felt that moment of complete satisfaction, and happiness.

Cafe Gratitude

Daniel Martin @Dmartnyc

Last week I was invited to Cafe Gratitude by a co-worker, and celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin. Alright, I admit I am far from being a Vegan or Vegetarian. The thought of going to Cafe Gratitude was a little terrifying. I knew I was in for a interesting night. We went to the Cafe Gratitude in my favorite neighborhood in Los Angeles called Larchmont right off of Melrose Avenue.

Let me begin by saying the items on the menu have the most unique names, which I loved. We started off by ordering corn tortillas, and guacamole  for the table (off to a delicious start already). For my main course I ordered the most familiar thing on the menu. The "I AM TRANSFORMED". Two organic tacos with sautéed seasonal veggies, black beans, salsa fresca and cashew nacho cheese. Let me tell you... It was amazing. So amazing, I am craving it right now.

I AM CHERISHED CHEESCAKE

For desert Daniel and I split the "I AM CHERISHED CHEESECAKE" which was recommended by our server. It is a cashew cheesecake of the day with almond date crust. The cheesecake of the day happened to be chocolate fudge. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for anything chocolate.

I am so happy I tried Cafe Gratitude. Not only was I able to get to know Daniel Martin, and my co-worker better... but I found a new restaurant I like!

New Taste Buds

As I have gotten older I have realized my tastebuds have changed quite a bit. For example I used to hate anything that included veggies. Now I am finding myself trying new restaurants that are vegan! So with these new tastebuds of mine I have found I love trying new places to eat. Living in Los Angeles there are so many wonderful unique restaurants at my fingertips! With that said, my roommate and I decided to try a new breakfast spot. I love eating breakfast at a restaurant with patio seating.

We went to a cute little restaurant in a neighborhood off of Melrose Ave called Grub. In the morning they don't have any music until 10 AM since it is in a residential neighborhood. It makes for a nice serene wake up.

As soon as we sat down the waitress brought a bowl of Froot Loops, and CoCo Puffs to the table. This was probably the best thing to happen before 10AM. It brought me back to when I was little. Pouring a bowl of cereal on a Saturday morning watching cartoons. This was the 21 year old me reliving that feeling. I ordered a delicious french toast on a croissant.  I recommend this restaurant to anyone who asks! I can't wait to go back and try it for lunch. From first glance their lunch menu had some amazing drinks, and food.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.

"A picture is worth a thousand words" well this one is worth a million and one. Once in a while I look back at old photos on my computer. I stumbled upon my high school graduation ceremony pictures. It's funny you know. A picture is really worth a thousand words. Looking at this picture I can tell you the exact emotions I was feeling. I can tell you who the people in the picture are and what they meant to me, and what the mean to me now. I can tell you what was going on in most of their life's when this picture was taken.

Sometimes I look back and wonder if I would have done anything different if I knew what I know now. If I would have known what the smallest choices I made could impact my future. Would I have changed my decisions? The answer is no. Yes, I would love to time travel once in a while. I would love to go back and hug the people in my life back then and know they soon will be gone. I wish I knew what friendships were not genuine. I would also love to know to never take a friendship, family member, or relationship for granted. Weird I can tell you a million and one things that this photo says.

A Place that Inspires

Ever since I can remember I have been going to Pacific Grove, CA during the spring and summer. In elementary school my mom took me to a bead shop on Cannery Row in Moneterey called "Let it Bead". This is where it all began. They taught me how to make necklaces, bracelets, anklets etc.. Every year following I have stopped in the bead shop. It wasn't in high school that I really got more involved into beading and making jewelry. It's funny how things work... I am not a college graduate working as the Director of Sales and Social Media for Blue Candy Jewelry, where I now have my very own line "Meadow for BCJ". Being back here where kt all started has sparked my imagination knce again. It's something about this place that inspires me. The smells, the color of the sand, the trees, the ocean, and wild life.

I never thought that my hobby as a child could turn into something bigger, but in recent months I have really seen that I can have my own company/brand one day. I WILL have my wn jewelry line and company. You just wait and see.

The Magic of Disney

There is something magical about walking under the first arch in Disneyland. When I walk through I can't help but look up and read "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy". Seriously, I look at it every single time I walk into the park. It is something about Disneyland that makes me feel at home. I remember when I first moved to Los Angeles I was very home sick and missed my family a lot. My friend was in Disneyland with her family and as soon as I got off of work I drove to the park and purchased my first season pass. As soon as I got onto the tram I felt a sudden sense of relief. I felt comforted and at home. I have so many amazing memories with my family at the Disneyland park. Now I have amazing memories with most of my friends there as well.

Now that you get the gist of why I am so connected to Disneyland... What do I enjoy doing at Disneyland you ask? Well just about anything and everything. I love going to the park with my family and going for 3 straight days doing every ride possible. At the same time I love heading to Anaheim to just grab dinner in New Orleans while watching glimpses of the fireworks. I love going to Disneyland to grab a caramel apple and people watch with my friends on main street. I love going to the park during summer and watching the fireworks and feeling the sense of hope. Seems silly, but the fireworks always remind me that we always have to remember our dreams and keep striving to reach them. Among all the amazing things there are to do at Disneyland, the most rewarding thing I have done is share the magic with my little cousin, and two nephews whom have become almost as obsessed as I have. I could ramble on and on about my favorite rides, snacks, treats, and hidden mickeys for hours (just ask my friends and family). If your interested I have listed some fun things I enjoy at the parks bellow.

Food
Breakfast: My all time favorite breakfast at the parks has to be at the Carnation Cafe. What I would give for a Mickey Mouse shaped Belgium waffle right now with a side of bacon.
Mid-Afternoon Snack: I love heading to the 'Tropical Imports' and grabbing something healthy to snack on! Usually a pickle! If I am feeling like something sweet for a snack I always go straight to a churro!
Lunch: As much as I would love to skip lunch and keep on riding rides it is always great to refuel. I can't help it but I am a sucker for a great cheeseburger. That is way I go to 'Tomorrowland Terrace'. The burgers and fries here are amazing. Also if your lucky you can find a seat in time for the Jedi Training Academy!
Dinner: I love most of the restaurants for dinner in the Disneyland parks but my recent favorite is  'Royal Street Veranda'. The gumbo... is amazing.
Treats on the way out: Best on the way out treat is Goofy Gummy Worms, or Ice Cream from Main Street!

Ok enough of me gabbing about Disneyland. Hopefully I didn't make you too hungry...

xx

The Tree House

The Tree House
What isn't better than a new office to kick start a new position at work. Like many of my friends know I work at Blue Candy Jewelry. I have been working at a desk in the same office space as the designer. Upon graduation as a gift my boss gave me a space of my own, in what we like to call "The Tree House". She completely redid the space! Adding new furniture, and fresh cut flowers. How can I not feel inspired, and motivated all at the same time in this pretty new office of mine.

Magical Clouds

Today was one of those days where it started off foggy. I almost thought I was back in San Francisco, not in LA. As the day went on the fog broke and the sun decided to peek through. Before the clouds cleared I was able to snap this picture! iPhone quality of course...Don't you just think cloudy days are magical once the sun appears out of the blue!

Inspire to Create

FIDM Grad, working full time for a jewelry designer, and social media "wiz".

Regardless of me finishing school I am still a very busy girl. It is always great to stay inspired. That is where the name of my blog comes into play. It is always good to stay inspired. You can be inspired by anything. A picture, a friend, family, or even just a conversation with a friend. My mind has so many wanderings on a day to day basis. I would love a place to dump it all at the end of the day, or even after just having my morning coffee. Please don't mind my ramblings. So I am starting fresh at this "blogging" thing. So here is to good faith that I will keep this blog as up to date as possible.
